Sodium benzotriazole(BTA·Na) CAS No.:15217-42-2;148918-02-9; English Synonyms: 1H-Benzotriazole, sodium salt; Benzotriazole, sodium salt; 1H-Benzotriazole, sodium salt (1:1); Sodium benzotriazol-2-ide;BTA·Na adsorbs onto metal surfaces to form a protective thin film, which shields copper, brass, bronze, and other metals from corrosion by the atmosphere and harmful media. Adding trace amounts of BTA·Na to cold water can prevent the migration of copper ions, which can catalyze the corrosion of metals such as aluminum and iron. In heat transfer media, copper ions can cause small hole corrosion in aluminum. Adding BTA-S to circulating water can prevent copper ions from catalyzing the oxidation of ethylene glycol;?1H benzotriazole sodium is the sodium salt form of benzotriazole, non toxic, non corrosive, non explosive, soluble in organic solvents such as water, chloroform, benzene, toluene, etc. It can be mixed with lower alcohols and ethylene glycol in any proportion. The use of BTA-NA is as a lubricant additive; Metal deactivation agent; Extreme pressure agents, bacteria, and oxidation inhibitors are used as antioxidants in internal combustion engine oils.
