Barcode Scanning
Composite Component B (CC-B) is a composite barcode component that can be used in conjunction with GS1-128, EAN/JAN-8, EAN/JAN-13, UPC-A, GS1 DataBar Limited, or any member of the GS1 DataBar and GS1 DataBar Expanded families of symbologies. It is based on MicroPDF417 and is designed to minimize symbol size relative to the amount of encoded data.
CC-B is defined in ISO/IEC 24723 Information technology - Automatic identification and data capture techniques - GS1 Composite bar code symbology specification.
Symbol Structure
CC-B follows the definition that is specified in ISO/IEC 24728 Information technology - Automatic identification and data capture techniques - MicroPDF417 bar code symbology specification with some differences, which include the following:
-
The first codeword must be 920.
-
CC-B is limited in size to 338 digits and characters.
-
The Reader Initialization codeword 921 must not appear.
-
No quiet zone is required above the CC-B component, and a separator bar must appear below it.
For more information about other restrictions, refer to the AIM GS1 Composite Symbology Specification document.
