Paper filter elements are typically suitable for applications with low filtration levels. P/HC paper element is used in return line filters. A common application is a machine for lubricating oil or high viscosity oil filtration. The filter element is constructed of randomly laid organic fibers reinforced with an adhesive.

The hydraulic filter element is used in the hydraulic system to filter out particulate debris and rubber impurities to ensure the cleanliness of the hydraulic system. In order to reduce the dimensions of the filter element and increase the filtration area, the filter layer is generally folded into a corrugated shape, and the layer is generally pleated below 20 mm.
