Judge the quality of rotary encoder
1) When the encoder is stationary, the voltage of a and B phases can be measured to be about 15V or 0V.
2) But only with a multimeter, it is impossible to accurately check whether the encoder is completely normal.
When the encoder is slightly rotated, the above two voltages can be obtained in turn. The voltage of a - and B - can be 0 V or - 15 V respectively.
3) The multimeter can only do a rough check. If the measurement result is too different from the above description, it can be preliminarily considered that the encoder has a fault. Because when it's normal,
Encoder is the output of high-frequency pulse signal, so it is recommended that you had better use oscilloscope to measure.
4) The method is: connect the output A-phase or B-phase signal of the encoder to the oscilloscope, and then rotate the encoder shaft.
If the high frequency 15V square wave pulse signal is observed on the oscilloscope at this time, then the encoder is good.
5) When the encoder rotates continuously, the output voltage is the average value of the RMS voltage, which may be only about 3-5v.
In addition, use the multimeter voltage to test whether the output is normal.
